Jadi Carboni: Peaches grow wild along a scenic route

Her exploration develops through somatic practices and postmodern techniques, voice and its relation with gesture. Bringing awareness to the natural dialogue between the inner and outer space, she witnesses how they transform and “in-form” one another. She is committed to breaking down the fourth wall, inviting the audience to feel part of the artistic creation and the interpreters to be aware that the public is part of the creation and the performing process.

Jadi has studied throughout Europe, South America, and the USA with artists such as Karl Jay Lewin, Kirstie Simson, Kathleen Hermersdorf, Katie Duck, Sten Rudstrom, Wachendorff, Scottish National Theatre and Sasha Waltz.

As a choreographer, her credits include an EU-funded science-art research project entitled On the Way to Immortality, the Ruhrfestspiele commissioned dance theater production Areja, and the interdisciplinary quintet Suspension Study for Trisha Brown, Kunsthaus Graz. Furthermore, she created a series of duets and solos, presented at several European cities, such as Berlin, Paris, Athens, Rome, and Venice festivals. Since 2016, she has worked with theater director Barbara Wachendorff in different productions in Germany, including social minorities.

In addition to her work in dance, Jadi is a prize-winning actress and filmmaker:”El Rey,” Barcelona Film Festival 2013; various awards for the three dance films she produced: Gravity Well, Dancing My Hero and Maya’s Faces. Since 2017, she has studied Dhrupad singing, a genre in Hindustani classical music from the Indian subcontinent. In 2019, she was awarded the Promos Stipendium from the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst.

Jadi holds an MA in choreography from the Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum für Tanz, Berlin, and she is in the process of the Open Source Form education by and with Stephanie Skura. She studied at the National Dance Academy in Rome, at the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam, and won a scholarship at the Venice Biennale under Carolyn Carson. She has also studied martial arts (Thai-qi, Aikido), voice training(Opera, blues, experimental, overtone), and bodywork (Sound therapy, Reiki, Zen Therapy).
