Ecofeminist practices in art & activism - DAY 1

Das Symposium widmet sich aktuellen ökofeministischen Ansätzen in der Kunstproduktion, angesichts einer zerstörten und ausgebeuteten Welt. Unser Anliegen ist, entgegen autoritärer Repressionen, Orte zu beschützen, feministisch-diskursive Räume und soziale Infrastrukturen in Kunst und Kultur zu stärken und Austausch zu fördern. Das Symposium befasst sich mit Praktiken der Nachhaltigkeit und queeren Gegenerzählungen zu Ökozid und Formen der Gewalt. Wie können wir als politische Akteur*innen im Kunstbetrieb bestehende Allianzen stärken und was können wir in der aktuellen Situation für das künstlerische Arbeiten in Wien von ökofeministischen Ansätzen lernen?

Political Plants – A botanical walk on the Danube Island with the Vienna Plant Club

A two-hour walk exploring plants, their functions, flavours, political histories and cultural roles. From volcano-resistant “invasive” species, free superfoods and private property destroyers to things that just taste really good, we will take a look at some of the plants (and maybe also fungi) that comprise the current ecosystem of the Danube island. The tour will (hopefully!) include some small tastings.

Plant Club loves foraging for wild plants and experimenting with tasting and cooking, fabric dyeing, and sometimes also, when there’s time, theoretical reflection.
