Who Cares? invites staff and representatives of art and cultural institutions as well as artists to explore how care can become part of institutional practice. Together with Miriam Wistreich, Director of UKS, Oslo (Young Artists' Society) the Sharing Session examines how institutions can better support artist-parents and other caregivers through practical tools - specifically through care riders.

HOOD Dreaming is an audio composition practice that talks about the impossible, the necessary, and the not-yet-real, and imagines worlds in which parents and caregivers are comprehensively supported.

Screening of the video essay The Future is Near (in the neighborhood) by former kex—residents Natalia Matsenko and Yuri Yefanov. The event will also feature contributions by Sebastian Sattlecker and Ida Zahradnik.

As part of the exhibition after the last ready-made, the curators Dorian Bonelli and Frederik Marroquín will guide visitors through the exhibition and are open for questions and discussion. The tour will be held in German and English, with Spanish available upon request.

As part of the “Synergies of Solidarity” festival by Queer Art Spaces Vienna, the association hint.wien presents an evening of highly intersectional queer poetry and storytelling to mark Pride 2026.

Understanding queerness not as an identity but as a strategy in times of change, the exhibition is a project within the festival Synergies of Solidarity organized by Queer Art Spaces Vienna celebrating the art and community. after the last ready-made curated by Dorian Bonelli and Frederik Marroquín focuses on textile work, crafting, and sensitivity.

Curators Elisabeth Falkensteiner and Nora Mayr will guide visitors through the exhibition. In the programme kitchen, everyone comes together to discuss professional paths and invitation policies, shifts in discourse, gaps, power structures, and spaces of possibility. They reflect on friendship economies and networks and how all of this shapes artistic programmes, but also art scenes.

We focus on the reciprocal influences and relationships between artists (biographies) and art spaces: Which potentials arise for self-empowerment and emancipation from collective historiography and how is knowledge collaboratively produced and transmitted? Similarly, the audience in the hall is welcome to join in the discussion with their own questions or statements, and naturally, a healthy dose of gossip is always welcome.

As the starting point of permanent temporär, the spatial setting by Julian Siffert and Seth Weiner will be presented. In Hilma Bäckström’s Puppenmuttis Selbstbedienungsbar, visitors can help themselves and each other, and Francis Ruyter will launch the Regular Wednesdays series as its first host.

The Trustmaking Guidebook explores how young people can lead the way in reimagining cities through collaboration and creativity. This innovative approach to intergenerational co-creation transcends conventional urban planning paradigms, offering strategies such as arts-based interventions and placemaking to empower young people to co-create inclusive urban presents and futures.

Innerhalb der von Sara Castelo Branco kuratierten Ausstellung "Botanizing the Asphalt" setzt sich der Workshop mit dem Thema Lichtverschmutzung und ihren Auswirkungen auf Mensch und Natur auseinander. Neben Klimaänderungen und dem Einsatz von Pestiziden gehört die Überhandnahme künstlicher Lichtquellen zu den Hauptgefährdungen von Nachttieren. Besonders nachtaktive Insekten, wie das Wiener Nachtpfauenauge, der größte Schmetterling Mitteleuropas, sind davon betroffen. Doch wie reagieren Tiere genau auf nächtliche Beleuchtung? Lässt sich Licht umweltfreundlich einsetzen, vielleicht sogar umlenken? Gibt es so etwas wie tierfreundliche Beleuchtung überhaupt?

The live performance “Electrify Everything” translates the seductive and captivating magic of demonstrations of the eighteenth-century Enlightenment into a critical exploration of the origins of the units and language used to measure electricity. The field of electricity has been developed, manipulated, and named for three centuries to control and apply it.

The exhibition Botanizing the Asphalt explores the political role of urban spaces at night through three thematic realms that intersect with the nocturnal: protest, energy, and the botanizing.

The exhibition project Botanizing the Asphalt explores the political role of light in urban spaces at night. Examining the materiality of night and its sensorial, normative, and atmospheric aspects, the potential of the nocturnal as a community meeting space unfolds against the backdrop of pressing social, ecological, and political contexts.

“Beneath the Surface: Deep Listening, Buried Narratives, and Embodied Resistance” is a lecture performance by Luïza Luz, based on their book of the same title (2024, Archive Books & we make it). Combining spoken words and somatics, it introduces deep listening as an embodied political practice. Participants are invited to sense how power and emotion take shape in the body, where listening becomes a practice of awareness, refusal, and collective attunement.

Natalia Matsenko is an independent curator, art critic, and lecturer. She focuses on the landscape and environmental transformations, human and nonhuman communities as well as networks, new media, and cultural heritage preservation. Yuri Yefanov is a Ukrainian artist and filmmaker whose work explores the otherworldly digital dimensions of computer-generated imagery.

At the end of the exhibition building < against, there will be a festive exit. With our self-built protest structure, flags, and trumpets, we will march to St. Marx. A procession through Vienna, a parade for more autonomous free spaces. We hand over our structure and warm ourselves by the fire in St. Marx. Feel free to come in costume, as a clown, Pulcinella, or juggler, etc. We will go in any weather.

What’s the weight of a ton when distributed amongst peers, handled and moved around with archaic DIY instruments? With Moving Mass we aim to bridge the concepts of The Right to the City, Commons, and Action-based research. We’ll be looking at Mass both as an assembly of people and as the physical opposite of a void. Gravity, leverage, torque; using bodies and mass as means of transgression. Aiming to achieve what’s seemingly impossible we won’t necessarily be.

We are pleased to invite you to the open studio of Natalia Matsenko and Yuri Yefanov! The curator and artist are part of our artist and research residency program from September to October 2025. Under the title City Visions 2050 – Between Reality and Utopia, they invite you to join them for an exchange.

The Wharf, the “construction site by the water,” is a place for building, learning, reading, planning, and resting. Over six construction days, we will work with you to build a vehicle for protest, which we will ceremoniously drive out at the end of the exhibition. No skills, more thrills.

In the workshop, we will first show a few fun “building materials” from the shelf, talk about protesting, and then work with clay, water, and wool ourselves in protest. This will take place in the shipyard. We want to pay special attention to the use of raw wool for all possible and impossible purposes in construction. The end result: wool paving stones, felt tiles, or even your own little “Wollbau” (cf. Folke Köbberling).

Together with the young people, we will build in the "Werft". Based on the exhibition and the specific materials on the shelf, we will develop materials and props for the final move-out at the closing event. In the workshop, we explore the question of how (building) materials and protest are connected and how we ourselves can create and produce “revolutionary materials.” The focus is on the experiences and views of the young people themselves.

This multimedia workshop uses speculation and simulation to explore the dynamics of city life. Firstly, participants share the most significant challenges they face, discussing potential solutions and their vision for the future of the city. The next phase brings these speculative ideas to life. Using a virtual city built in a gaming engine, participants design the neighbourhood of the future they have imagined.

We write, compose poetry, and make sense of the inconsistencies in the city. In a guided process, we create haikus, shortest stories, crossed-out poems, and collaborative typewriter poetry. In Romanian, German, Hungarian, French, English, and any other languages and symbols you bring with you. Everyone is welcome; writing experience is not a prerequisite.

The Bussi Beginner Workshop explores the group's favorite topics: urban development, de-gentrification, appropriation of space, and neighborhood. Between theatrical, participatory, and semi-rehearsed tips and tricks, they walk together with participants through the 17th district, starting at Dornerplatz.

Short films and film clips will be shown that deal with the appropriation of urban spaces – from an intersectional queer-feminist perspective. What forms can resistance take? Where does it begin?

Robert Foltin (Fuzi) will talk about squatting and its institutionalization as described in the books “Und wir bewegen uns doch” (2004, edition grundrisse) and “Und wir bewegen uns noch” (2011, Mandelbaum Verlag), as well as social movements after 2011. The focus will be on the differences and similarities in the self-organization of squatting in Vienna.

WORDS ON FIRE – Democracy lights back is an evening of poetry, discussion, song, and participative reflection set in a field of political tensions where discomfort, falsehoods, and a war of words against human rights combine. The event will reignite the spirit of democracy while a bonfire burns in a barrel outside in the courtyard of WUK throughout the evening.

Following an international call for artistic/political contributions on brownfield sites in urban areas, we will review the submissions together, create our own contributions, and then collectively print and bind the zines. We plan to have a Riso printer in the room. So there are many possibilities: reading together, writing, making collages, printing, and trying out simple binding techniques. At the end, we can all take a few zines home with us and give them to our friends.

adO/Aptive will host a discursive and performative evening that reflects on gamification and different modes of immersion into game-realms – be they IRL or fully virtual.

The Atlas is an artistic research project that maps out a comparative analysis between curating and conducting. It aims to discover new ways of perceiving creative mechanisms in contemporary art (curated after 2000) and concert music (conducted after 2000).

The ATLAS creates dialogical communication channels by facilitating and experimenting with the findings and outcomes of the research process. DIALOGICAL PERFORMANCES will merge the concert musical/sound performances and visual art exhibitions/presentations along with panels, workshops, lecture-performances, and performances.

The book Intersections of Conviviality: Voices from Communities brings together fifty contributions from scholars, artists, and activists based in Austria and beyond.

Book presentation “VIYANO. A passion for Kurds and life in the mountains: The Werner Finke Collection.” With a music performance.

This event is dedicated to the people whose villages in Kurdistan disappeared, were burned down, or forcibly evacuated in the 1990s. In this context, we want to give space to their voices-each person tells his or her own story.

To mark the Kurdish Language Day on 15 May, there will be a lecture by Agnes Grond and readings by renowned Kurdish authors, including Hüseyin A. Şimşek and Aljeen Hasan.
