Taking Space - Feminist Appropriation of Space
As part of the exhibition building < against, the screening “Taking Space - Feminist Appropriation of Space” will take place. Moderation and curation: Janina Hoffmann, Ida Zahradnik, Flores Paul. (no registration required)
We present short films that explore the appropriation of urban spaces – from an intersectional queer-feminist perspective. At the center is a spectrum ranging from collective forms of protest to the everyday ways in which FLINTA* people navigate public space – spanning political action as well as embodied, personal experiences.
The evening is an invitation to gain insights into diverse approaches and forms of expression – without any claim to completeness, as the selection has grown out of our own surroundings and lived experiences.
How can space be organized equitably? What shapes can resistance take? And where does it begin?

building < against refers to the non-conformist production of space, resistant buildings, protest architectures, autonomous and functionally open architectures, the preservation and cultivation of places, radical reconstructions. And even more radical practices of not building at all.
