KEX Residency
Grant for artist / research residency at KEX Dependance, Zukunftshof
Since 2012, the Kunsthalle Exnergasse (KEX) awards grants for artist / research residencies, respectively of one to three months. From 2012 to 2019, residents were invited to work at the KEX Studio, a studio at WUK, in collaboration with the Workshop Sector (WSB), member of the WUK organisation.
Since 2020, KEX is collaborating with the project Zukunftshof on Vienna's urban periphery, where it initiates and realizes interdisciplinary, theme-specific artist-in-residence projects. The Zukunftshof is located on the edge of the city, between fields, single-family housing estates and in the middle of a projected urban expansion area.
There the KEX Dependance is a place for artist residencies at the intersection of art/urbanism/ecology, with a thematic focus and critical examination of the topics of urban agriculture and food of the future, urban expansion, circular economy and ecology. Everyday life on the urban fringe meets science, meets art.
The selection of the residents takes place in a constant cooperation with national and international institutions and groups from the broader field of innovative artistic practice and research.
