David Chichkan. How to Make the Radical Left Art in Ukraine

David Chichkan is a Kyiv-based artist and activist. From 2010 till 2016 he was a member of Autonomous worker’s union (Ukraine), from 2014 till now he is a member of another notable Ukrainian libertarian organization Black rainbow. In 2014 David has launched a research initiative LCUD (Libertarian Club of Underground Dialectics), that explores the philistine, widespread dimensions of right ideology in Ukraine. Chichkan uses the LCUD as an art-based research method. His artistic career started in the early 2000s, from 2008 David takes part in art exhibitions. He participated in the Kyiv Biennial 2015 The School of Kyiv. David's main technique is graphics, watercolor. At his presentation David would share an artistic and activist experience of the last three years, especially through the Maidan time, that has influenced him much, as well as the whole Ukrainian society.
