soft assemblies - sharing session with Manora Auersperg
In the sharing session, Manora Auersperg and students from the University of Applied Arts are opening up their joint working process to anyone who would like to try out spatial transformations in direct contact with cloth. We are investigating the potential of the textile medium in terms of its spatial, socially organizing effects in interaction with an air-supported textile structure. The 'Inflatable' offers us the opportunity to negotiate space in a playfully easy way, to transform it and to create different situations together. The interaction creates a model-like image of the interaction of the most diverse forces - of needs that distinguish and connect us, of the material and our actions. We find, invent and mediate forms of communal space and possibly realize that we have an "instrument for systemic change" in our hands.
The sharing session emerges from Manora Auersperg's current artistic seminar, which is held in the Department of Textiles at the University of Applied Arts - Free, Applied and Experimental Artistic Design. The inflatable textile spatial structure that we are currently working with and on, was developed in a collaborative workshop (soft assemblier) with the Berlin collective popticum in the beginning of November.
