Chapter 3, Page 51 - Atelier
Following the great success of Andreja Rauch Podrzavnik’s award-winning dance music project Special Edition in 2024 and 2025, a new collaboration is now returning to the WUK to strengthen the international partnership between artists based in Ljubljana and Vienna: Chapter 3, Page 51 includes an open Workshop-format and a Performance on the weekend, 7th/ 8th November 2026 at WUK – be welcome!
Chapter 3, Page 51 – Atelier:Instant Composition, listening & doing
A 3 hour-workshop where listening becomes the starting point for making.
At the heart of Chapter 3, Page 51 is an Atelier: an interdisciplinary, openly accessible format bringing together dance, live music, and performance — and building connections between artists across disciplines and borders. Beyond a skill-building workshop, it's a platform for artistic and intercultural exchange.
Led by internationally renowned choreographer, director, teacher, and improviser Andreja Rauch Podrzavnik, with live music by musician and multidisciplinary artist Luka Uršič KALU, the workshop centers on the working method built on mutual listening and responding — in keeping with WUK's annual theme 2026. This format focusing on real-time composition in dialogue with movement and sound - opens a unique opportunity for direct exchange between the Slovenian and Viennese artistic scenes.
What to expect
The Atelier moves through three connected areas:
-Dance composition — building short movement scores and sequences, exploring vocabularies from stylized phrase work to abstract action and everyday gesture, and developing a sharper, more articulate sense of form, intention, and space.
-Instant composition — treating improvisation as real-time composition: not an endless search for new ideas, but the art of recognizing, developing, and returning to what's already there, drawing on principles of repetition, variation, and layering found across both, dance and musical traditions.
-Dance and sound in dialogue — working live with a musician to explore how movement and sound shape each other in the moment, how a non-hierarchical relationship between the two can be built, and how performers can compose together while keeping their own artistic agency intact.
Throughout the Atelier, practical exercises are paired with observation, feedback, group discussion, and short writing tasks — creating space to reflect on the compositional choices, relationships, and artistic intentions that emerge.
Who it's for
Dancers, performers, musicians, and cross-disciplinary artists — from WUK, Vienna, and beyond — with an interest in deepening their practice of dance composition, improvisation, and the relationship between movement and sound.
What you'll leave with
An expanded compositional toolkit, sharpened improvisational instincts, and a felt experience of interdisciplinary dialogue — built, above all, on the practice of listening.
If you would like to experience the approaches of the Atelier in a life-created performance by an ensemble of 5 artists coming from the fields of dance and life-music, you are warmly invited to come to see Chapter 3, Page 51 – on Sunday, 8th November 2026, 18.00 o’clock at Flieger/ WUK.

CV’s:
Andreja Rauch Podrzavnik, Slovenia, choreographer, performer, improviser, a teacher and the author of numerous stage, research and educational projects, has graduated with an MA from the London Contemporary Dance School in 1999. Understanding dance as a mode of behaviour, Andreja has been researching the topicality and relevance of the structures and formats she uses in her work, parallel to examining how to think about and practice art in a given context. Her projects are often collaborative and include different artists from various fields; musicians, actors, designers, photographers and, of course, dancers. She also choreographs and directs commissioned work for companies, theatres and schools and teaches contemporary dance technique, improvisation and composition.
For her work, she received many awards, among them also two awards for the project Special Edition in 2021 (Ksenija Hribar Award and Župančič Award - by the City of Ljubljana). And most recent, in 2026, Rauch Podrzavnik received the Ksenija Hribar Award for her choreographic work 2023 - 2025.
Luka Uršič KALU is a visual artist, musician, and performer living and working in Ljubljana. His practice develops at the intersection of image and sound, where, through an intuitive process, he explores relationships between space, materiality, and perception. In his works, he creates suggestive, sensory experiences, while as a music producer he shapes soundscapes for various artistic projects and composes music for his own and collaborative productions.
