Anne Glassner and Lisa Spalt: Dream Cell
The phone booth becomes a dream cell: a place of retreat, poetic transformation and the collective power of imagination.
While Anne Glassner lies in the cell - or sleeps standing up - a series of abstract visual worlds unfolds from her “dreaming head”. In the form of moving decalcomania, they appear as constantly changing projections on the walls of the cell: vibrant, surreal dream images that are as fleeting as thoughts. Anne Glassner has been jotting down her dreams since 2017 and sees them as a personal, inner archive - as moving images of the unconscious.
At the same time, the language artist Lisa Spalt takes up these fleeting dream worlds. In real time, “dream enhancements” emerge from the projections. These interventions offer alternative narratives, extensions and subtle utopias of the dreamed images.
The dream cell is a sleeping area, projection surface as well as a poetic workshop. It invites the audience to enter a state between waking and dreaming - a space in which reality and imagination merge.
A project by Christine Baumann und Pablo Chiereghin.
