Founded in 1985 by Iranian refugees under the name Support Committee and located in WUK ever since, Asyl in Not (Asylum In Need) is one of the most important counsel centres for asylum seekers in Austria.
Asyl in Not does not consider itself a charitable association rather a political NGO: It provides a combination of concrete, juridical and social help to individuals with a political commitment and works against an unjust system.
Asyl in Not offers advice and support to asylum seekers and recognised refugees in crucial legal and social issues.
 

Legal advice

• General advice in asylum procedures
• Preparation for hearings at the Austrian Federal Asylum Office and the Court of Asylum (in certain cases also accompaniment)
• Appeals against negative asylum decisions
• Advice in legal procedures by immigration authorities (deportation, prohibition of stay, custody pending deportation) as well as appeals
• Advice for officially refused asylum seekers or illegalised persons; the joint search for solutions • Legal support of recognised refugees Asylum Office and the Court of Asylum (in certain cases also accompaniment)

Social Advice

• Assistance in finding work
• Advice on labour laws
• Information on language and professional orientation courses
• Advice on social laws
• Assistance with debt regulation
• Advice and support with school/studies/kindergarten
• Health issues (social insurance etc.)
• Help finding housing/emergency shelter
• Contacts to governmental offices and authorities
• Information on psychotherapeutic assistance
