Self-Help Group - Psychological Problem Help
Our Mission
PPH, a self-help group established in 1984, is dedicated to supporting people, and their friends and family, who have had painful experiences in psychiatry or are looking for ways out of psychological problems.
Helping one help oneself
We provide a contact point and communication centre for assistance with the alleviation of psychological ailments, acceptance into society and coping with daily life. We aim to improve the situation in life through mutual advice and help, and provide “crisis intervention” in the form of case-by-case relief efforts in the personal sphere of those in need.
When necessary, there is also the possibility to make appointments with a doctor, a social pedagogue or a social worker. We cooperate with all medical and governmental instances. With these available resources we also want to provide assistance to people who are not necessarily sick, rather whose difficult social situation seems to be caused by a behaviour that is falsely perceived by society as a personality disorder. We want to help the advice-seekers find insights into how their chances can improve, and we encourage autonomy.
A range of possibilities
Table tennis, piano playing, bridge, chess, tarot, excursions (culture and sport), discussion group (Jour Fixe), presentations, drawing and painting, poetry… the list goes on!
For those recovering from an illness, there is the opportunity to relearn household skills through helping to wash up the dishes and clean our spaces.
We are non-partisan and ecumenical.
